Pasadena Showcase House awards Nikka Gershman the Grand Prize for Exceptional Talent & Musicianship

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 21st — Nikka Gershman, youngest in the history of the Pasadena Showcase House Instrumental Competition to win the Grand Prize for Exceptional Talent and Musicianship Award over all categories, judged by a panel of esteemed LA Philharmonic members

Nikka was a finalist in the woodwind category, but won the Grand Prize over all instruments. “This year was one of the highest levels of competitions that we’ve had in 35 years,” said Sally Hazen, director of the Pasadena Showcase House. The judges took an extraordinary long time to deliberate and came out with a surprise announcement that a 14-year-old won over all categories and ages, an unprecedented win for such a young competitor. An even bigger surprise was when Nikka announced that she is donating a large portion of her prize to support humanitarian aid in the Ukrainian crisis.
