The Juilliard Sonatenabend program is a concert series featuring instrumentalists and singers, designed as an opportunity for graduate-level collaborative pianists. As the only undergraduate student on this program, Nikka will perform with pianist Saul Ibarra Ramos in the premiere of her transcription of Maurice Ravel’s La Valse. Never before performed on flute, Ravel’s rich and mesmerizing harmonies are displayed in the intertwining counterpoint between the flute and piano, their voices engrossing the sound of the entire orchestra. This premiere commemorates the 150th anniversary of Ravel’s birth.
